Use ContextSwitch inside Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Windsurf. Compress long sessions, improve prompts, and save context in one tool to continue in another — no copy-pasting.
Use the same Google account as your ContextSwitch extension.
Run once in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http contextswitch https://context-switch-backend.vercel.app/api/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"Check it with: claude mcp list
Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key. Never commit it to git.
Server URL: https://context-switch-backend.vercel.app/api/mcp · Transport: Streamable HTTP · Auth: Bearer API key
"Summarize what we did and the next steps, then save it with ContextSwitch as checkout-refactor." — later in another tool: "Load checkout-refactor from ContextSwitch and continue."
"Use ContextSwitch to compress this session so I can start a fresh chat without losing context."
"Improve this prompt with ContextSwitch before running it: add tests for the payment module."
The key is missing, mistyped, or revoked. Copy it again (it must start with cs_live_) and make sure the header is exactly "Authorization: Bearer <key>". If you lost the key, revoke it and create a new one.
MCP is a paid feature. If your subscription recently ended, renew on the pricing page — your keys start working again immediately.
Restart the client after editing its config. Check the JSON is valid (no trailing commas). In Claude Code run "claude mcp list"; in Codex or Gemini CLI run "/mcp".
Only compress_context and improve_prompt do — they share the same monthly quota as the Chrome extension. Saving, loading, listing, and usage checks are free.
Saved contexts are encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before storage, tied to your account, and never shown to advertisers. Delete any snapshot anytime with delete_context.
Yes. Create one key per machine or tool (up to 5) so you can revoke one without breaking the others.
